The challenge
Ivanti is a leading company in the IT asset and service management market, with more than 1,700 employees and software used by 78 of the Fortune 100. Ivanti provides enterprise IT departments with software spanning IT service management, IT asset management, IT security, endpoint management, and supply chain capabilities.
To streamline internal and external training, Ivanti implemented a new learning management system (LMS). But years of acquisitions — and an ongoing go-forward acquisition strategy — had left Ivanti’s IT environment with multiple LMSs and payment processors, each integrated differently and inconsistently. Keeping them working together required specialized, ongoing development. Ivanti needed a cohesive architecture to integrate its LMSs and payment processors, and partnered with Versetal to build it.
How Versetal helped
Versetal and Ivanti’s teams designed a microservice architecture in Azure built to integrate Ivanti’s current — and future — LMSs and payment processors. The architecture bridges Microsoft Azure with Ivanti’s existing SaaS application landscape, including Salesforce, Thought Industries, e-commerce, tax, and SAP, with business logic accounting for sensitive customer data across the full purchase journey.
The new system “created a neutral playing field to integrate two solutions that didn’t integrate naturally,” according to James Hill, Ivanti’s IT Director. The architecture covers the full workflow — from customer identification in Salesforce, through the shopping cart and payment process, to customer updates pushed back to Salesforce, Vertex Tax software, and SAP — built on a scalable, repeatable API structure that can onboard additional applications as new business needs arise.
Versetal delivered the design on an aggressive 30-day timeline. Its global DevOps team then implemented the solution using an Agile process over another 30 days, followed by 30 days of post-rollout support — a complete design-to-support engagement in under three months.
Outcomes
- Agile engagement with Versetal’s global Design and DevOps teams delivered a working solution in under three months
- Azure-based microservice architecture enabling seamless integration of LMSs and payment processors while protecting data flow
- Multi-cloud architecture that integrates seamlessly with Ivanti’s existing IT environment
- Application Insights telemetry monitoring and analytics, letting Ivanti’s IT team quickly investigate and resolve issues
“I would absolutely recommend the Versetal team, because of their commitment to solve the problem we presented.”James Hill, IT Director, Ivanti
